Dr. Kevin Walker MD

President Elect

Kevin Walker is a Utah native who completed his medical school training at The Ohio State University. He then returned to Utah to complete his neurology residency at the University of Utah and his sleep medicine fellowship at the University of Utah and Affiliated Clinics.  He is board certified in neurology and sleep medicine and is proud to be part of the Intermountain Sleep Disorders Center team.  He is currently the University of Utah and Affiliated Clinics Sleep Medicine program director and the president-elect of the Utah Sleep Society.

 

Nikkie BensonRPSGT

President

Nikkie Benson has been a sleep technologist for over 10 years. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is currently employed with Intermountain Sleep Disorders Center as a lead tech. She enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family. Nikkie is currently serving as the president of the Utah Sleep Society.

 

Scott Schauss PA-C

Communication Committee Chair

Scott Schauss PA-C, a native Hoosier, completed his BA at Brigham Young University, Biology ’09 and his MA through Marywood Univerisy in Scranton PA, MPAS ’13. Upon the completion of his medical training he began his career in the field of sleep medicine and is currently working with the Intermountain Healthcare Sleep Disorders Clinic, Riverton Hospital. He is very passionate about sleep medicine and is very interested specifically how it impacts athletic performance. He currently resides in South Jordan Utah with his wife and two children. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, cooking and fly-fishing.

 

Ronna G. Schrenk PA-C

Education Committee Chair

Originally from Aberdeen, South Dakota. Received a Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care from Dakota State University, Madison SD in 2003. Worked at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD from 2002-2009, as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with certification in Neonatal Pediatrics (NPS). I worked in all aspects of critical care (adult to neonates). I was part of the air medical transport team form 2004-2009. In addition, I worked in the PFT and sleep lab for an independent pulmonology clinic. Performing PFTs, mask fittings, and instructed home sleep tests with scoring from 2007-2009. From 2009-2011 I ventured out to Utah, attending the University of Utah for Physician Assistant School. Upon graduation, I began working with Dr. Dixie Harris in early 2012 as a pulmonary/sleep medicine PA, as part of the Intermountain Utah Valley/American Fork Pulmonary/Sleep. I currently work aside Dr. Harris at Intermountain Alta View Specialty clinic in Sandy.
